Q: When should I put my baskets outside?

A: After all risk of frost has gone, usually May onwards.


Q: How do I keep my basket looking good all summer?


Q: Water daily, twice if it is hot, feed once a week and deadhead (remove flower heads when they have died back)


Q: How much water do they need?

A: A moss lined basket needs more water than a wicker type basket. At least once a day sometimes twice, make sure water soaks in.
Top Tip: Feel the weight of the basket, if it is light it's too dry.


Q: What is the advantage of using moss?

A: Moss holds water and helps to keep plants moist, it also allows you to plant in the sides of your basket for a fuller look.


Q: I am going on holiday, what do I do with my hanging baskets?

A: Ask a friend or neighbour to water them. If not then move them to a shadier spot and stand them in a bowl or bucket or water.


Q: What are the best plants to use?

A: There are many lovely summer basket plants you can use. For long trailing baskets try trailing petunias, for neater baskets try Bizzy Lizzies and if watering is a problem, try ivy leaf Geraniums or mix them together. A 14" basket planted, on top and in the sides should us around 15-18 plants
