Aggregates (gravel)

Q: How much gravel do I need?

A: Measure the area you wish to cover in square metres, then divide by 0.4 - That will give you the number of large bags you will need. For example:-

3m  times  1.5         = 4.5 m2
4.5  divided by  0.4  =11.25

Therefore you will need approx. 12 bags. For larger areas our bulk bags are more economical.

Q: Can I lay stones straight onto the ground?

A: Ideally level the ground and remove larger weeds etc, if necessary carefully cover the area with weedkiller. Lay a weedblock membrane ensuring you overlap the edges and hold down with nails or similar pushed into the earth. Then lay the stones on top to a depth of approx. 40mm

Q: Can I use any type of stone on a driveway?

A: Safer stones such as limestone and slate will crumble with constant traffic use, so it is better to use a granite type stone or a quartzite gravel which are much harder and more suitable.
